    Helmet $50 reduced to 40
Biking gloves $20 reduced to 18
Front lights $25 reduced to 22.50
Rear saddlebag $30 reduced to 24

Amber bought the: Helmet which equals $40.00
Ike bought the: Front light and biking gloves which equal $40.50
Tiffany bought: Front lights and Rear saddlebag which equals $46.50

Answer: First we found out how much each item would cost with the sales price subtracted. Then we subtracted $3.50 from $50.00 and got $46.50. Next, we found out that the rear saddlebag, $24.00, and the front lights, $22.50, added up to be $46.50. So that means Tiffany spent $46.50 on the rear saddlebag and front lights. Next, we found out that Ike couldn’t have gotten the helmet because nothing would add up with it to fit the data we received. We also found out that Ike had to buy one of the items that Tiffany bought and he also had to spend $00.50 more then Amber. Then, we tried the front lights because it was the only item with $00.50, and we added on the biking gloves because that would get us close to $40.00 (the cost of the hamlet). His total added up to $40.50. We knew that Amber spent $00.50 less then Ike and only bought 1 item. So the had to have bought the helmet because it was $40.00, $50.00 less then Ike’s total price.

  5. FA Answer: Helmet $50 reduced to 40$
Biking gloves $20 Reduced to $18
Front lights $25 reduced to $22.50
Rear saddlebag $30 reduced to 24

Tiffany bought front lights and a rear saddlebag. It equals $46.50.
Amber bought helmet. It equals $40.00
Ike bought front lights and rear saddlebag. It equals $40.50

This is how I got my answer. I found the percentage by taking the sale percentage for each item and found out what the reduced amount is. Then I used these numbers to find what each person bought.

First, I have to figure out the sale prices of each of the items before anything.
20% of $50 is $10, so the sale price for the helmet is $40.
20% of $30 is $6, so the sale price for a rear saddlebag is $24
10% of $20 is $2, so the sale price of biking gloves is $18
10% of $25 is $2.50, so the sale price of front lights is $22.50

Tiffany spent $50.00 on both items together, and the clerk handed her back $3.50, so that means that she spent $46.50 in all. You have to combine the two sale prices that equal $46.50 to know what she spent her money on.
    $24 (rear saddlebag) + $22.50 (front lights) = $46.50.

Ike spent money on one of the same things that Tiffany spent her money on out of the two he bought. It also mentions that he spend $0.50 more than Amber spent on the one item she got.
He got two things, so let’s try combinations to see if we get any that cost $0.50 more than any one item.
    $18.00 (biking gloves) + $22.50 (front lights) = $40.50.

$40.50 is 50 cents more than a helmet, which costs 40 dollars on sale.
    So…
Amber bought a helmet for $40.00
Ike bought biking gloves and front lights for $40.50
And Tiffany bought a rear saddlebag and front lights for $46.50

A helmet equals forty dollars with the discount.
A rear saddle bag equals twenty four dollars with the discount.
A set of front lights equals twenty two dollars and fifty cents with the discount.
A set of biking gloves equals eighteen dollars with the discount.

Amber got a helmet for a total of forty dollars, Tiffany got front lights and a rear saddle bag for forty six dollars and fifty cents, and Ike got front lights and biking gloves for a total of forty dollars and fifty cents.

  11. Smaytorena: My answer: Tiffany spent her money on a saddlebag and front lights with a total of 46.50., because if she got 3.50 back, you subtract that from 50. Ike also bought a saddlebag because anything the only thing that you can .50 cents less off is the front lights. He also bought the biking gloves. Amber just got the helmet. I got this because you get 62.50 out of anything.

  12. 1. Ecarlton answer: I said that Tiffany spent $46.50 on front lights and rear saddlebag and I found that out by first finding out the percent of each item. This is what I found out.

    Helmet $50 ($40) with 20% or $10 off
    Biking gloves $20 ($18) with 10% or $2 off
    Front lights $25 ($22.50) with 10% or $2.5 off
    Rear saddlebag $30 ($24) with 20% or $6 off

Then I subtracted $3.50 from $50.00 because that was one of the clues. (I got $46.50) Then I kept adding items together until I got $46.50.

Ike spent $40.50 on front lights and biking gloves.

(10 percent off front lights and biking gloves, 20 percent off helmet and rear saddle bag)
    Helmet- 40.00
    Rear saddle bag-24.00
    Front lights-22.50
    Biking gloves- 18.00
Amber spent 40 dollars and bought the helmet. Ike bought the biking gloves and front lights, that adds up to 40.50. tiffany bought front lights and a rear saddlebag., and that adds up to 46.50. 46.50 is a 3.50 difference from 50 dollars. Tiffany and Ike both bought front lights. Ike bought front lights and biking gloves and if amber spent 0.50 less than ike so would have to have bought a helmet.

What did each person buy? How much did each person spend?
    • Amber bought one item which was a rear saddle bag (20% off).
    • Ike bought two items, biking gloves and front lights. I know that because everything $29 or less was 10% off.
    • Amber spent $30 without the discount but she only spent $24 with the 20% off saving him 6 dollars from his total.
    • Ike spent $45 without the discount but he only spent $40 with the 20% off saving him 5 dollars form his total.

Amber bought biking gloves. She spent 19.50 dollars because I divided 10 by 20 and got 0.5 or 0.50. Tiffany bought biking gloves and a rear saddlebag. She spent 46.10 dollars because I divided 50 dollars by 20 and got 0.4 or 0.40. Then, I subtracted 0.40 out of 50 dollars and got 46.10 dollars. Ike bought 2 helmets. Ike spent 99.80 dollars because I divided 100 dollars by 20 and got 99.80.

  17. L.H’s answer-Ike spent 40.50and he bought front lights and bike gloves, Amber bought a helmet, and Tiffany bought front lights and rear saddle bag. The first thing I did was find out the sale prices. Then the next thing I did was figure out what tiffany did. What I did was 50.00-3.50 then I got the answer which was 46.50, and then I figured out all the possible answers I could get by adding up the prices. And I figured out that tiffany bought front lights and a real saddle bag because that =46.50. Then I figured out Ikes and since I knew that Ike had .50 cents more and that one of the items he bought was the same as tiffanies. And since 22.50 cents was the only one that had .50 cents in it I knew that that and the helmet was his items and I got his final price by adding those numbers up and I got 40.50 and then I subtracted 50 cents and got 40.00. And that was ambers amount that she spent and she only bought one item and the helmet was 40.00 and that was how I got my answers.
